Dear Parents,
As we know, change is somewhat inevitable in any international education environment. My message this week is focused on some of the changes that will be taking place as we move into the new school year.
At the end of this year, we will be bidding a fond farewell to our Headteacher of Sara Village School (SVS), Amy Bates. Amy has been a wonderful Headteacher at SVS for the past four years and will be sorely missed by the ISG community as an administrator, a colleague and a friend. I am sure that you will join me in wishing Amy all the very best for the future, as she returns to the UK with her husband James.
I would like to share with you our plan for the administrative structure of SVS for the 2022-23 school year and beyond. As the British School Dhahran (BSD) transitions and moves to the new school site, I have asked the current BSD Principal, David Bolton, to concentrate solely on establishing and developing the new building and its infrastructure. This is a tremendous endeavor to conduct on behalf of ISG and will require his full commitment and extensive expertise.
In my role as Superintendent it is my duty to ensure that, as under David and Amy’s experienced leadership, SVS continues to have a clear voice and representation within our district of schools. I have therefore taken the decision to replace the Headteacher position at SVS with a full Principal appointment. As a Principal level role, the new appointment will report directly to me, concerning all aspects of the running and operation of the school.
Following a rigorous recruitment process, with consideration of over 100 exceptionally well qualified applicants, it is with pleasure that I announce that Richard Charlesworth will be moving into the position of Principal at SVS, effective August 2022. Richard has been with ISG since 2015 and has a wealth of teaching and leadership experience. He is well known within our community for his dedication to improving student learning experiences, showcasing our academic achievements and supporting excellent staff development. ISG is exceptionally fortunate to be able to capitalize on Richard’s skills, experience and enthusiasm which, I’m sure, will be a tremendous asset to the SVS community.
I am sure you will join me in celebrating the accomplishments of Amy and congratulating Richard on his new appointment.
I would like to wish you all a very enjoyable weekend.
Best wishes,
Dr. Michael P. Mack
