ISG Jubail has a school cafeteria, open daily from 8.30am to 4.00pm, where students are able to purchase food for lunch and snacks at their designated break and lunch times.  The cafeteria offers three meal choices daily. Similarly, a tuck-shop style food outlet, Joffery’s, is open to students in Grades 6-12 between the hours of 7.30am and 4pm, and students are encouraged to make healthy choices when purchasing here.

Numerous studies have shown that children who eat a good breakfast and a healthy filling lunch are able to concentrate more in class than those who don’t. Ensuring healthy eating patterns in childhood and adolescence promotes optimal childhood health, growth and intellectual development, reduces the chances of obesity, health problems, eating disorders and long-term health problems.

However, as parents we also know that some children are fussy eaters, many are drawn to sugary and fatty foods and it can be a struggle to get students to make sensible meal choices. At ISG Jubail we promote healthy eating and are committed to the physical wellbeing of our students. As a parent, you can help support this healthy lifestyle for your child by providing healthy meals at home and encouraging students to avoid the following:

  • Chocolate
  • High fat processed foods
  • Sugar/caffeine
  • Fizzy drinks
  • Sugary breakfast cereals

It is essential that healthy eating is continuously promoted at home so that students continue to eat healthy at school. Eating a nutritious lunch will keep a student’s mind sharp and ready for class.
